You can find anything on eBay... especially things you won’t find anywhere else!
Today, eBay unveils its new communications campaign in France for traditional media, television, press, display advertising and digital channels, developed in partnership with the Artefact 3000 agency. After making its big comeback (even though it never really left!) with an initial campaign last September, the pioneering e-commerce platform now returns to center stage to put its vast and diverse selection in the spotlight. Whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it on eBay – especially things you won’t find anywhere else!
eBay still has plenty of surprises in store
Last September, eBay made a high-profile media comeback with a self-deprecating campaign that highlighted not only its unique link to France, but also its commitment to promoting more sustainable consumption, notably by extending the lifespan of all kinds of consumer products.
Now, eBay continues its comeback with two new brand videos aimed at debunking some of the common misconceptions people have about the site. Besides being the platform of choice for collectors and enthusiasts, eBay is home to a huge inventory that’s only grown more diverse over the years: refurbished and second-hand items, vintage home decor, and even spare parts! Filled with treasures you won’t find anywhere else, eBay truly has something for everyone.
“The reaction to our previous campaign overwhelmingly confirmed French consumers’ strong attachment to eBay. Going forward, we want to keep challenging people’s assumptions about eBay and highlighting the immense variety of products you can find on our platform, including some that people may not necessarily associate with us. In its 23 years in France, eBay has developed an extraordinary selection of items with exciting finds for every user, no matter how unique their needs and interests may be. We want to reinforce that reflex of looking on eBay, whatever you’re looking for,” explains Ségolène de Noray, Marketing & Communication Director, eBay France.
In the two videos directed by Emma Benestan, eBay again turns to self-deprecating humor to question the hasty judgments that people sometimes make about the platform. Viewers find themselves listening in on the thoughts of a teenager celebrating his birthday and an office worker who’s more than a bit skeptical about receiving a package from eBay. While the first reacts with disappointment and the second with mockery, they’re both in for a surprise when they open their packages… These two familiar scenes aim to remind French consumers that they can always find what they’re looking for on eBay, whose catalog is still unmatched in terms of richness and variety.
“Once again, eBay has opted for a humorous approach that touches on the common misconceptions that people still have about it. We’re thrilled to have had another opportunity to collaborate with the brand to work on a creative and slightly off-kilter campaign to highlight eBay’s unique positioning and remind French consumers of all the great products it has to offer,” says Fabienne Fiorucci Fouï, Creative Director at Artefact 3000.
